Missions
When you think of mission work, what comes to mind? Some may think of traveling overseas, while others picture what they are doing locally. Whether in a foreign country or right here at home, any effort to share the gospel of Jesus Christ is part of fulfilling the Great Commission of Matthew 28. How can you answer the call of Christ?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age”
(Matthew 28:19-20).
Mission Work in our Congregation
There are many ways to participate in the work happening at Living Savior Lutheran Church. All of us can share the good news of Jesus with our acquaintances. All of us can invite others to services or Bible studies. Our mission also includes caring for the members of our congregation; for example, reaching out to those who have strayed or supporting those who are new to the faith.
How might you benefit from our mission program?
“If you cannot speak like angels, If you cannot preach like Paul, You can tell the love of Jesus, You can say He died for all”
(LSB hymn #826:2).
WORSHIP
Would you like to support the spread of the truth of the Gospel throughout the world? The Lord has blessed our synod, the CLC with multiple domestic mission congregations and international work that covers more than 14 countries. Our focus is on the training of pastors in foreign fields and supporting the start of congregations in the United States. Mission work also involves educating children in orphanages and helping with the daily needs of widows and others.
Below is a list of various mission programs of our synod. Please keep these efforts in your prayers.
KINSHIP Programs – Through your financial resources, support the training of pastors and children and help meet the physical needs of widows and orphans. You can sponsor a specific individual or a group.
Foreign Fields Mission Work – With over 14 countries and tens of thousands of souls, we have the opportunity to support the work in our foreign fields. Check out the website for the latest information.
Domestic Fields Mission Work – There are several state-side mission congregations that are small and do not have the resources of more established congregations. Helping with your time and talents can go a long way to encourage these groups as they become established.
Committee on Domestic Fields – A subcommittee of the CLC Mission Board, the purpose of the CDF is to make outreach ideas and material available to congregations and to encourage them in carrying out the Great Commission of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Traveling Vacation Bible School (TVBS) – This program helps small congregations promote and host Vacation Bible School opportunities. Many congregations hold summer TVBS programs in their communities.
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).
